Bob Whitney - Biography
After studying Tuba at the Royal Academy of Music I joined EMI Abbey Road Studios in 1987, and proceeded to work my way up through several positions including cutting engineer and classical editor. During my time with Abbey Road I pioneered the use of hard disk editors for classical recording and editing.
In 1996 I moved across to Sony Music Studios (previously Whitfield Street Studios) as a mastering engineer. Whilst there I designed and worked in Sony's first surround sound room in Europe and helped to develop Sony's Sonoma SACD digital audio workstation.
Since the sale of Sony Music Studios in February 2004, I have established myself as a Freelance Engineer. I now combine the use of the most up-to-date equipment with my long experience of working at two world class recording studios.
I am happily married with two children.
